About Us
As a serious reader and collector of modern literature for over 50 years, in 1999 I started Mostly Useful Fictions, to sell used and rare books that I loved. I specialize in modern first editions, world literature in translation, graphic novels and literary first novels. I also have a smattering of books on other topics, the Holocaust, Long Island History, Photography, Literary Biographies, and Books about Books.
This is primarily an on-line business, but I also enjoy doing occasional antiquarian bookfairs within the greater New York area.
I am a member of both IOBA (Independent Online Booksellers Association) and LIABDA (Long Island Antiquarian Book Dealer Association) for close to 20 years. I have been a member of the executive board of both organizations and served as president of LIABDA for several terms.
In addition to bookselling, I am happy to conduct book searches for books not in my inventory, and I am always interested in purchasing select collections in my fields of specialty.
